Murray Strain races to victory at the Auld Toun 10K


Hunters Bog Trotter Murray Strain led home a field of 381 runners at Wednesday evenings Auld Toun 10K Road Race in Dunfermline. Murray raced to the finish in Pittencrieff Park setting a new course record of 31.36. Keith Hood (Corstorphine AAC) clocked 32.16 in 2nd position while Martin Gore (Lasswade AC) was 3rd in 33.57. In form Jeff Farquhar (Pitreavie AAC) enjoyed an excellent run around the testing 6.2 mile course placing 4th overall and leading M50 in 34.06. Grant Wilkie (Corstorphine AAC) won the M40 award, finishing 5th overall in 34.17. Archie Duncan (Pitreavie AAC) won the M60 award placing 69th overall in 43.19. Congratulations to Katherine Brownlee (Unattached) who was the convincing winner of the ladies race in 38.23. Eilis McKechanie (HBT) recorded a time of 40.20 in 2nd position while Fife AC’s Alison McGill was 3rd lady in 40.49. Siobhan Culleton (Unattached) placed 4th in 41.10 and Carnegie’s Kristin Lownie was 5th lady in 41.27. Gail Murdoch (Carnegie Harriers) was the leading F40 (7th overall) in 42.36 with club mate Isobel Burnett winning the F50 award placing 10th overall in 43.55.  The mens team award was won by Carnegie Harriers (22 points), Pitreavie AAC were 2nd (34 points) and Kinross Road Runners placed 3rd (87 points). The ladies team award was won by Carnegie Harriers with 20 points, Kinross Road Runners were 2nd (49 points) and Fife AC were 3rd on 66 points. Very well done to everyone who took part in the 2010 Auld Toun 10K and we hoped you enjoyed the event.

Entries now open for the Auld Toun 10K Road Race 2010

The annual Auld Toun 10K Road Race, a british 10k, which is organised by Carnegie Harriers will take place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 2nd June 2010. The race will start and finish in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline and new for 2010 we are introducing chip timing by Winning Time UK.

Championship Status for The Auld Toun 10K

Carnegie Harriers are pleased to announce that the Auld Toun 10K will incorporate the  East of Scotland 10K Championships 2009. The race which takes place on Wednesday 27th May from Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline is already attracting a good number of entries with over 400 runners expected to take part.

Pre-entry would be appreciated but entries on the night will be accepted within the Glen Pavillion, Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline.

All finishers will receive a medal. There will be awards in all categories in addition to the presentation of the East District Championship awards.
